The kids' project
Small pen, big effort
Cattle came first around here, but the Shurtz kids picked up an interest in sheep along the way. Every spring they raise a small pen of club lambs on the side — fed, worked, and broke to lead by the same kids who show them.
Because the pen is small, every lamb gets real attention. They are handled daily, started on the stand, and sorted honestly so you know what you are taking home. If a lamb is not one we would show ourselves, we will tell you.
We are glad to talk through feeding programs, show schedules, and what to look for if this is your family's first year with lambs.
